Jared's Basketball game

Jared's team lost their basketball game today 11-1. OOoooppps. I think we lost our mojo. Hopefully we'll get it back soon.

Jared's Basketball 1-23-10

Jared played two games this morning, back to back. The first one was a really close game with one of Jared's teammates making a basket in the last 4 seconds to win the game by 1 point. Whew!

The next one the boys were really tired and they couldn't sink a basket, making about 1 in every 5 shots. They tried hard, but we lost 17-10.

Jared's Spelling Bee

Jared qualified to participate in a spelling bee on the 21st of January with 22 other 5th and 4th graders. He did an awesome job through 7 rounds and then he realized his close friends were out, he was the only 4th grade boy left, he realized he didn't want to win (too much pressure representing the school in the county spelling bee.) and there was only 6 kids left, so he took a dive on a word I know he knows because it's one of his favorite flavors - vanilla. NOooo! not on vanilla, oh well. We were very proud that he tried, even though he was a little worried about being infront of all the 5th and 4th graders and parents. I was the biggest distraction, I think I need to tone down on the animation of my feelings. I kept seeing Jared go 'mom - stop!' But I love him so and I want him to do well and ........... I need to let him be! sigh.

More Icicles

As we say goodbye to the snow the icicles are becoming really pronounced and pretty. These are some around our house.

Sledding - Jan.1-11-10

The kids went sledding at the firehouse this evening. It's always a lot of fun - got the hill all to ourselves and we have a big, loveable firefighter to catch us if we happen to go to far down the hill.

Playing in the Snow

To take advantage of all the snow that fell, we decided to go outside and play in it. Sledding ramps were attempted, tunnels and snow angels were made, snow ball fights and snow wrestling ensued and finally a dive bomb into it.

Caught this icicle on the house starting to melt, though it looked pretty cool.

Jared's 1st Basketball game this season

Jared is #4 for the Bulldogs this season and he is doing an excellent job being a team player and getting his own shots in to. We actually won 17-8, go Dawgs!

Snow!!! It's Sledding time.

So we finally got enough snow to go sledding, about 6 inches, and we had to take the kids sledding at Fort Ben. Here they go up the hill. Here they are at the top of the hill. Uummmmmm yum, hot chocolate in our hug mugs - aaaahhhhhhh bliss.

Happy New Year

We spent the evening at home gorging on snack foods, playing games, watching a guy jump 235ft from land to a barge in a car, then went outside at midnight and set off some fireworks and then broke one of my camera lenses and then we all got to bed about 4a.m.
